MIXING NETWORKS FOUNDATION COURSE

Mixing Networks is known within the industry as the leading organisation for screen and audition technique and has a long tradition of training actors to be set ready.
This course is designed as an alternate to drama school.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

  • A 6-month acting foundation course designed to build your skills and confidence as a working actor
  • Split up into two semesters, training 2 days a week to fit it around your schedule
  • Experienced course tutors who are a mix of working actors and directors
  • Become spotlight eligible after you complete the course
  • Screen focused making you feel confident in front of the camera
  • A Screen Showcase at the end of the course in front of an industry panel made up of Casting Directors and Agents

Foundation Course

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

This course is designed for performers looking to advance their careers to a professional level. New actors are welcome as well as any actor who is looking to top up their professional training. The course is also designed for any Musical Theatre actors who want a more screen focused training!

TRAINING OVERVIEW

Our typical programme runs over two 12-week semesters.
Here is a breakdown of a typical programme but is subject to change.

Semester 1
Weeks 1-6 - Intro to Stanislavsky technique and Voice & Movement
Weeks 7-10 - Theatre and Film/TV scene study
Weeks 11-12 - Level 1 Auditioning for Camera
Week 12 - A casting workshop ran by a prominent casting director

Semester 2
Weeks 1-2 - Intro to Meisner Technique and comedy clowning
Weeks 2-4 - Meisner Technique and Level 2 Auditioning for Camera
Weeks 5-6 - Understanding Self Taping and Level 2 Auditioning for Camera
Weeks 7-8 - On-set training & etiquette and Level 2 Auditioning for Camera
Weeks 9-10 - Headshot session, Understanding the business of acting and Level 2 Auditioning for Camera
Week 11-12 - Screen Showcase training and rehearsals

The course then concludes with a screen showcase in front of a panel of industry professionals including Casting Directors and Agents.

Spotlight connects performers with roles in theatre, television, and film productions globally. Casting professionals select Spotlight to cast their projects because it features performers who are recognized as the industry’s finest.

Spotlight Eligibility
Upon completion of our Foundation course you will be eligible to apply for Spotlight.
Throughout the course, we will help you prepare your Spotlight page. You will receive new acting headshots and self-tape material for your profile.

Founder and Tutor
Michael is the founder of Mixing Networks creating the company in 2011. He runs the acting for screen classes and has taught many working and successful actors. Michael is also an award winning film director and enjoys making films when not dedicating his time to running Mixing Networks
Kathryn McGarr

Kathryn McGarr

Tutor
Kat is a London based actor with extensive experience in stage and screen, including countless productions with award winning pioneers Punchdrunk and screen roles in Eastenders, Top Boy and most recently leading up a drama docu for Story Films and Channel 4.

Kat has taught at Mixing for many years across all levels and having been in the top level Mixing class for many years fully believes in weekly practice as an enriching way to continue developing as an actor.
Rob Metson

Rob Metson

Tutor
Rob has been working at Mixing Networks since 2019.
Artistic director and owner of SETfilms he has written, produced and directed numerous films in the private sector as well as creating his own award winning work for festivals.

Many of Rob's students have booked continuing drama guest leads as well as shows for Netflix, Amazon prime and many more.
Alastair Natkiel

Alastair Natkiel

Tutor
Alastair is a London based actor with extensive stage and screen experience, including the recurring role of Lee Banks in Line of Duty s5&6 and the Olivier Award winning, Standing at the Sky’s Edge (Sheffield Crucible/National Theatre/West End).
Alastair has been teaching for Mixing Networks for many years, across all levels of our auditioning for camera classes - both in person and online - sharing his wealth of knowledge of the craft of screen acting, as well as the industry itself. He cares passionately about delivering classes which not only progress, but also uplift, our actors.

Starts w/c 6th January 2024 through to w/c 24th March every Tuesday and Thursday 2pm - 5pm

SEMESTER TWO
Starts w/c 7th April 2024 through to w/c 23rd June every Tuesday and Thursday 2pm - 5pm

SCREEN SHOWCASE DATE
Monday 7th July 2024 7pm – 9pm

COURSE FEES

£750 per semester if paid in full (price includes VAT)
£795 per semester if paid in instalments (price includes VAT)

Option 1: 1 Full Payment – £750
Option 2: 3 Instalment Payment Plan – 3x £265

All payments must be paid before the start of each semester.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
After you have you been accepted onto the course, an email will be sent out and you will have 24 hours to confirm your acceptance onto the course. You will then be asked to either pay the full amount of the course (£750) or the first instalment (£265) if you choose to pay in instalments. This initial payment must be paid within 5 working days of your acceptance. All payments must be made before the start of the first semester. There is an option to pay the full fee or instalments via credit card or PayPal; however, please note that an additional 3% surcharge will apply. If you decide to cancel before the start date of the course, you will only be eligible for a refund/credit note if we are able to fill your place. We will try our best to fill your place but please note this is not always possible. If we are not able to fill your place, you will not be able to get your money back. Once the course starts, you are expected all sessions and you will be not be eligible for any credit notes or refunds.

HOW TO APPLY

Course Application
Application to our foundation course is free. In order to get a place on the course, you must apply by sending a self tape submission. It should be material from a Film/TV script and should be no longer than 2 minutes. This must be sent via email with your tape uploaded to a private/unlisted link such as vimeo or youtube. Please don't send anything for us to download.

THE DEADLINE: Sunday 1st December 2024 8pm.
All submissions after this date will not be viewed.

NOTIFICATION DATE: Monday 2nd December 2024
This is the date everyone will be notified if they are successful or not.
